Bastille, World Tour
J&C Joel provided drapery and a screen for four-piece rock band Bastille’s World Tour.
Bastille are an English rock band from London who formed in 2010 and have since taken the world by storm with their catchy music and amazing shows. The band’s world tour started in the UK and culminated in them playing their music across the globe.
J&C Joel manufactured a black IFR Polyester Trevira (PT021) curtain measuring 15.2 metres wide with a 9.1 metre drop that was used to reveal an astonishing 27 ft tall grey Joelastic screen (JOS004); the biggest triangle to date on stage with the band.
The triangular drape measured 9.4 metres wide with an 8.3 metre drop and was finished with large nickel-plated eyelets all round allowing the drape to be bungeed into position and could be adjusted to suit the different heights of the many venues on their tour.
The triangular backdrop was used for video mapping various visuals throughout the show to really capture the feel of the design during each song played in the set. Video mapping onto the impressive Joelastic screen allowed it to be transformed into a multitude of varied shapes and sizes, at times appearing to create three dimensional illusions and often showing a live feed of the band.
The lighting design was incredible and, twinned with amazing video effects, created one of the best live shows that year.
