The Roundhouse, London
J&C Joel transformed the Roundhouse performing arts venue in London with a major installation of high quality wool serge curtains and curtain tracking systems.
The Roundhouse is one of the UK’s most important cultural centres and boasts a programme of cutting edge theatre, music, dance and performance art by young people aged 11-25. Performers can also reach out to digital audiences via the on-site television and radio studios.
J&C Joel provided a bespoke track and curtain system to withstand the rigours of touring productions while complementing the Victorian aesthetics of the Grade 2 Listed building. The Premier Wool Serge (WS090) curtains installed around the venue were chosen for the fabric’s excellent acoustic properties as well as its durability.
The E Rail curtain tracks fitted by J&C Joel’s in-house installation team were custom shaped to fit the building’s curves and contours without spoiling the aesthetics of the Roundhouse’s Victorian metalwork.
All of the wool serge curtains supplied were secured to these using golf bag hooks, the strongest method of fixing curtains to these types of rails, which are perfectly suited for use in busy venues.
A portable E Rail track was also designed by J&C Joel’s installation team to be deployed in different areas of the building as and when required.
All round quality from J&C Joel
J&C Joel’s wool serge is available in five varieties, each of which is strong and durable with excellent acoustic properties making them ideal for all manner of theatre curtains. We can supply bespoke curtain tracks for any installation.
E Rail curtain tracks are small and easily shaped to fit any venue. This rail is also perfect for hanging medium weight curtains such as Premier Wool Serge.
