J&C Joel complete the Calderdale Way
In June 2019, J&C Joel completed the Calderdale Way to raise money for charity.
The Calderdale Way is a 50-mile walk around the countryside of West Yorkshire. The money raised from the fundraiser went towards the chosen charities Theatre’s Trust and Candlelighters.
Theatre’s Trust is the J&C Joel’s chosen charity to celebrate its 40th anniversary year. The purpose of Theatre’s Trust is to protect and support excellent theatre buildings, which meet the needs of their communities.
The Candlelighters charity supports families facing children’s cancer in Yorkshire, this was chosen by the J&C Joel team as a charity which is important to them.
J&C Joel colleagues split into five teams; each completed a 10-mile stretch of the walk, in tandem. Despite the unexpected arrival of dismal Yorkshire weather, the teams had a great day and completed the event in under 5 hours. At the end of the event, the teams met in Sowerby Bridge to celebrate their achievement.
J&C Joel would like to thank everyone who supported and donated towards the fundraiser. The event raised an outstanding £1000 for Theatre’s Trust and £1720 for Candlelighters.
