The American School of Dubai in Al Barsha is one of the UAE’s major international education centres, providing American style High, Middle and Elementary school educational facilities.

The school’s busy programme of stage shows and musicals are played out in the main theatre, which boasts stage dressings and acoustic solutions manufactured and installed by J&C Joel, who were subcontracted to Omnix International LLC.

The theatre’s Front of House Curtains were manufactured from sky blue Velvet Velour (VEL027) lined with black Sateen Lining (LIN002), while the theatre’s stage curtains, consisting of borders, legs, and a mid-stage travelling curtain, were made from black Bolton Twill (BT005).

A seamless white Cotton Cyclorama Canvas (CAN041) stage backdrop was also supplied alongside Sharkstooth Gauze stage backdrops in both white (ST014) and black (ST016) to be used for lighting effects suitable for the wide range of performances staged within the school’s theatre.

The acoustics within the theatre were softened by Heavy Wool Serge (WS004) acoustic drapes manufactured with 50% fullness and made specifically to meet the requirements stipulated by the project’s acoustician. These were hung from two sections of Unibeam manually operated corded tracking manufactured with a chicane, allowing the acoustic curtains to be drawn into storage pockets when their sound-dampening properties are not required.

Within the school’s black box theatre Premier Wool Serge (WS090) perimeter curtains were hung from a double rail manufactured from black powder coated aluminium piping with a diameter of 48mm. A smaller white Cotton Cyclorama Canvas (CAN022) was also provided.

Further acoustic curtains within the school’s six practice spaces and studios were manufactured from Premier Wool Serge (WS090) once again sewn with 50% fullness and mounted onto a two-way manual walkalong track.
