J&C Joel installed stage curtains, pelmet and a motorised track in the theatre of the prestigious Kingswood School in Bath.
Opened in 1994, the 375-seat theatre is a vital part of the school and is used in term time for performances as well as school assemblies. The theatre is also available for hire and regularly hosts seminars and conferences as well as dance and dramatic performances by local groups.
The nature of the venue and the variety of events that it hosts meant that the curtains and tracks installed were required not only to be lavish but also hard-wearing and versatile.
Therefore, T60 track was chosen as the perfect fit for the venue due to its ability to be operated at different speeds from both the Kingswood Theatre’s stage and the lighting control box. The T60 track is also ideal for hanging the large curtains J&C Joel provided.
J&C Joel manufactured and installed plush and durable scarlet Countess (VEL034) theatre curtains designed specifically to mask the existing supports structures around the stage, along with pelmet drapes and curtains forming a proscenium arch that were sewn into place on site by J&C Joel’s manufacturing team, to ensure a perfect fit.
Neil Francis, Technical and Commercial Manager of the theatre said of the project: “Everyone involved with Kingswood Theatre is very pleased with the excellent project carried out by J&C Joel. Kingswood Theatre has been in need of refurbishment for some time and this has been a huge step forward in terms of the aesthetics of our superb facilities.”
