J&C Joel were commissioned to provide the stage engineering solutions for the Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET) in Kuwait.
PAAET is one of the largest academic institutes in the Middle East based on student enrollment numbers. The institute offers a wide variety of programs across its different colleges and training centres.
As part of the project, J&C Joel’s engineers installed 22 double-braked helical drum winches which were manufactured in-house. As a result, the installation formed a key part of the venue’s advanced stage engineering system.
J&C Joel installed a motorised Unibeam drape track with Plum Countess (VEL003) drapes for the Front of House area. Thanks to the automated control system, operators can open and close the drapes smoothly and efficiently.
In addition, J&C Joel installed manual drape tracks at both mid-stage and upstage positions, deploying black Wool Serge 565 (WS090) masking drapes. Wool Serge 565 is the ideal fabric for masking and blackout due to its opaque, durable properties.
Furthermore, two adjustable proscenium towers were installed with a top suspension and rolling beam assembly. J&C Joel integrated bottom sunken floor guides into each tower to improve stability and operation.
Inside each tower, the team fitted two adjustable platforms and lighting rails to provide flexible staging and lighting configurations. In addition, the team installed an external cat ladder to provide safe and easy access for maintenance and technical crews.
Finally, J&C Joel installed a 13.7m wide aluminium modular truss film projection screen and a 16m wide by 7m drop brail Zetex fire curtain. Controlled by a bespoke touch screen pendant control system.
