Straight Lift System

Straight Lift System

The Straight Lift System is a widely adopted and trusted solution utilised in numerous theatres worldwide. This features a construction that is raised and lowered as a panel – a straight lift.  It needs to be slightly larger than the proscenium arch so that in the event of a fire it drops to provide a barrier to smoke and flames passing from the stage to the auditorium.  This allows it to act as part of an bigger fire safety system allowing the smoke to be extracted out of the building away from the audience, whilst allowing the audience time to safely exit.

As it  lifts as a panel the stage area needs to have a fly tower larger than the proscenium opening.  The construction of the Fire Safety curtain is generally of a robust steel frame structure designed to withstand any pressure differential.  It can be clad in steel sheets or a specialist fabric design to withstand temperature of 1000 degrees Celsius for up to 4 hours – or a combination of the two.
