Overview:
J&C Joel partnered with Ptarmigan Integration on a prestigious project at AIA Insurance’s global headquarters in Hong Kong. We have worked with Ptarmigan on several projects, so our established relationship gave us a strong foundation for the work. Together, we delivered a specialist rigging solution for a new multi-purpose hall.
The hall supports a wide range of activities, including basketball, indoor sports, conferences and corporate events. Therefore, the space needed a flexible and reliable rigging system. It also needed to meet the technical and regulatory requirements of a high-profile commercial development.
Our team installed 18 chain hoists with encoders above the false ceiling. These hoists give the venue the flexibility to support different event formats. In addition, we installed 24 strong points for chain hoist rigging.
The location of the chain hoists presented a particular technical challenge. Electrical wiring and other services occupied the space above the false ceiling. At the same time, the installation had to meet the regulations set out by the Hong Kong Buildings Department (HKBD). As a result, our team had to plan the installation carefully and coordinate closely with other contractors.
We also supplied the loose rigging equipment required for the system. This included Prolyte Verto truss, slings and shackles. Together, these components provide the connection and support equipment needed for the hall’s flexible rigging requirements.
Strong communication also played a key role throughout the project. Our installation team worked closely with the other contractors on site. We coordinated access, installation activities and the requirements of other trades. Consequently, we kept the project moving efficiently despite the challenging conditions.
AIA was particularly pleased with our approach. Our team focused on the work, communicated clearly and worked efficiently alongside the other contractors. As a result, we completed the installation successfully while maintaining a strong working relationship with everyone involved.
Following the installation, AIA also appointed J&C Joel to provide ongoing after-sales support. Our service includes annual maintenance and inspections of the installed systems. Therefore, we continue to support the venue long after the initial installation.
The project demonstrates J&C Joel’s ability to deliver specialist rigging solutions in complex commercial environments. It also highlights our experience in coordinating with international partners and multiple contractors.
