After discovering J&C Joel via its website, Build Hollywood engaged with the company to support a new office project in Manchester, as creative street advertising specialists, they design and deliver impactful street campaigns that actively connect with local communities while enhancing the cultural vitality of cities. As part of their Manchester expansion, the team identified a clear need for an effective acoustic solution that would complement both the functionality and aesthetic of the space. consequently, J&C Joel stepped in to provide a tailored response.
Specifically, a staircase leading to a meeting room required acoustic masking to minimise sound transmission during meetings. To address this challenge, J&C Joel designed and manufactured a bespoke drape to encase the top of the staircase. The solution utilised Olive Green Sensation Velvet (SEN017), selected for its acoustic performance and visual appeal. The drape measured 7.4 metres in width with a 3.75-metre drop and incorporated a 50% fullness to ensure optimal sound absorption. Furthermore, the installation featured pencil pleats, Rufflette hooks, and a Silent Gliss track system to achieve a clean, professional finish. To ensure structural integrity, the engineers first installed a timber pattress to the ceiling, which securely supported both the track and the drapery.
