J&C Joel was approached to improve the acoustics at the iCon Centre for environmental Innovation in Daventry.

The Centre has been designed as a high profile supportive environment for companies at the forefront of the green economy.

Built by Winvic Construction, it is a testament to low carbon construction and boasts a natural ventilation system, air-to-air heat pumps and carbon emissions of only 15kg/m2 per year. The complex provides office space for green businesses specialising in low carbon and sustainable technology and houses a 300-seat conference hall for corporate and community use.

J&C Joel manufactured Wool Serge 565 (WS090) perimeter curtains for the iCon Centre’s conference hall which were made to drop from the ceiling to the tops of the windows and doors to mask the walls on either side of the hall’s concertina seating.

The sound dampening qualities of Wool Serge 565 (WS090) reduce sound reverberation within the venue, therefore improving the acoustics. The fabric’s strength and durability make it ideal for masking and perimeter curtains in busy venues. J&C Joel also installed Erail tracki from which the curtains were hung, which was chosen specifically for its versatility and reliability.

From durable perimeter curtains to traditional stage maskings, J&C Joel’s range of practical wool serge fabrics fit the bill in any venue. Available in a variety of weights, all with excellent acoustic properties, J&C Joel Wool Serge is the workhorse fabric of the entertainment industries.
