Built by Winvic Construction, the iCon Centre is a testament to low carbon construction and boasts a natural ventilation system, air-to-air heat pumps and carbon emissions of only 15kg/m2 per year.
The complex provides office space for green businesses specialising in low carbon and sustainable technologies. In addition, it includes a 300-seat conference hall designed for both corporate and community use. The Centre provides a high-profile, supportive environment for companies at the forefront of the green economy.
J&C Joel was approached to improve the acoustics at the iCon Centre for environmental Innovation in Daventry. We manufactured Wool Serge 565 (WS090) perimeter curtains for the iCon Centre’s conference hall. These drapes were made to drop from the ceiling to the tops of the windows and doors, effectively masking the walls on either side of the hall’s concertina seating.
The sound dampening properties of Wool Serge 565 (WS090) reduce sound reverberation within the venue, therefore improving the acoustics. Moreover, the fabric’s strength and durability make it ideal for masking and perimeter curtains in busy venues.
To complete the installation, J&C Joel also fitted the drapes on Erail tracking systems, selecting this system for its versatility and reliability.
From durable perimeter curtains to traditional stage masking, J&C Joel’s range of practical wool serge fabrics meets the demands of any venue. Available in a variety of weights and offering excellent acoustic performance, J&C Joel Wool Serge remains the workhorse fabric of the entertainment industry.
