Working in association with interiors fitting specialist Abrahams & Carlisle, J&C Joel provided a range of acoustic systems for the MediaCityUK complex located at the Salford Quays, on the banks of the historic Manchester Shipping Canal.
MediaCityUK is a massive development built specifically to meet the requirements of the media and creative industries. The development is home the BBC, ITV, SIS (Satellite Information Services), as well as national institutions such as Coronation Street and Match of the Day.
J&C Joel provided acoustic solutions for both MediaCityUK’s Philharmonic performance studio, home to the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Multi-Purpose Audio Studio (MPAS). The Philharmonic Performance Studio was fitted with 50 retractable Acoustic Duvets used to mask open wall space and reduce sound reverberation.
Given the nature of the MPAS and the varied range of performances and recordings taking place J&C Joel designed and installation 62 Acoustic Motorised Double Roller Banners housed in perforated hoardings. The arrangement allows audio technicians to cater the studio’s acoustics to perfectly complement any performance.
