J&C Joel manufactured over 35 custom curtains to mask the QVC studios’ walls and windows.

QVC is the UK’s leading TV shopping channel, broadcasting 24 hours a day and reaching 26.8 million UK homes. Their customers can order goods via television, telephone, the Internet or even smartphone. Their new headquarters in Chiswick Park in West London contains four production studios, each one purpose designed to cater to different sectors within QVC’s business.

J&C Joel manufactured over 35 custom fabricated curtains manufactured from over 600m2 of self-lined black Wool Serge 800 (WS022) to mask the studios’ walls and windows. The weight of Wool Serge 800 means that these masking curtains are ideal for reducing sound reverberation within each studio while also blocking sunlight when drawn over the windows.

A variety of other curtains and backdrops were also provided, including white Filled Cloth (FIL021) drape measuring 35m by 6m and 24m by 4m; a chromakey green Coloured Wool Serge (WS019) curtain measuring 24m by 6m for use in special effects and the compositing of images; a Wool Serge 565 (WS090) curtain was manufactured along with a selection of acoustically reflective black PUFC (PUF001) curtains.

All of the curtains and backdrops provided by J&C Joel were suspended from Unicyc track: a heavy-duty track ideal for use in studios and for perimeter curtains.
