Challenges & Successes

The project involved the installation of a 1 x pilewind winch, suspending a 6.4m x 3.2m projection screen. Above the screen were ovular tension wire grid steel uprights, providing support for 8 x removable lighting bars and a removable decking system. The screen could be flown on three lines using a control system managed by AVW controls. It featured a preset position within the control system, but it was also possible to lower it to the floor and store it in a custom-made storage box, allowing all lines to be concealed from view. Alternatively, the screen cassette could remain preset, and the screen could be rolled up into it using remote control.

The Decking system was designed to be easily removable or set up by two people within two hours. However, an unexpected challenge arose when Covid struck during the installation period. The fitters faced the sudden closure of hotels, leaving their belongings on the streets. This unfortunate circumstance caused a three-month delay, during which all procedures and Health & Safety regulations had to be rewritten to ensure the safety of all four fitters. Despite the hurdles presented by Covid, the project was successfully completed on time and within the allocated budget.
