J&C Joel was appointed by S&T Powertronics Co, Ltd to supply motorised tracks, stage masking drapes and front of house curtains to the main theatre at Thammasat University.
Thammasat University is Thailand’s second oldest university. Its primary mission is to offer higher education in the disciplines of law and politics to the new citizenry and prepare Thai citizens for their new democratic system.
The University’s theatre has a proscenium measuring 40m wide, therefore, J&C Joel recommended using two heavy-duty UniBeam track systems to cover the width. Each system was driven by a T Drive motor at each end, J&C Joel synchronised the motors onto a wireless pendant, so they were able to work as one bi-parting system.
In addition, J&C Joel provided six stage legs and three borders. For these masking drapes, J&C Joel used their Wool Serge 565 fabric due to its excellent masking and blackout qualities, which were then sewn at 25% fullness to hang evenly and to add acoustic properties.
For the Front of House, J&C Joel supplied a pair of curtains which measured 20.5m wide by an 11m drop each, along with a decorative border which measured 42m wide by a 3m drop. These drapes were manufactured from J&C Joel’s Coliseum Velour (500gsm, IFR) in burgundy, from their new West End collection.
The drapes were pleated at 75% fullness to compliment the size of the venue. All of the drapes produced were sewn and hung for inspection, by the J&C Joel team in Vietnam.
Alistair Leak J&C Joel’s International Sales Representative for ASEAN said: “We have received great feedback on this job, the customer described the whole project as “perfect”. I believe this is a great example of the kind of developments that are now coming up in Asia, where J&C Joel is able to offer a high-quality full IFR drapery package, but for great value.”
