Working under Federal Technologies, J&C Joel manufactured and installed drapery within Brighton College’s auditorium.
Brighton College opened its doors in September 2013 in the city of Al Ain in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, the Garden City of the United Arab Emirates. It is the second of Brighton College’s sister schools in the UAE and is housed in a purpose-built, iconic 28-acre campus located one hour from the cities of Abu Dhabi and Dubai.
J&C Joel manufactured and installed Front of House curtains for the school’s auditorium made from Countess (VEL003) and lined with black Sateen Lining (LIN002). Measuring eight metres wide and with a drop of nine metres, the curtains were hung onto a 15-metre motorised bi-parting Unibeam track which was also supplied and installed by J&C Joel.
A backdrop curtain which measured 12 metres wide with a nine-metre drop was manufactured from Wool Serge 565 (WS090) and was hung at the back of the stage on a 12-metre wide manual walk-along Unibeam track. Two, four metre sections of Unibeam track were also installed running up and down the stage, each supporting two scenery carriers with swivel sets for the two pairs of legs manufactured from black Wool Serge 565, all measuring 1.5 metres wide with a drop of nine metres.
Fixed shaped acoustic curtains were manufactured and installed around the auditorium and varied from 3.4 metres to eight metres drop and manufactured from both ultra-blue Coloured Wool Serge (WS017) and Wool Serge 565. The sound dampening qualities of Wool Serge 565 and Coloured Wool Serge reduce sound reverberation within the venue, therefore improving the acoustics. Available in a variety of weights, all with excellent acoustic properties, J&C Joel wool serge is the workhorse fabric of the
entertainment industries.
