J&C Joel was asked to replace existing drapery and flooring at the Independent Schools Foundation Academy (The ISF Academy), with their new, innovative products.
The ISF Academy is a leader in bilingual and bicultural Chinese-English education in Hong Kong and the campus, built on a 13,152 square-meter site on Kong Sin Wan Road, Pokfulam, has been designed to reflect and reinforce the school’s distinctive educational mission and approach.
The project consisted of the manufacture and installation of masking drapes and flooring for the school’s Black Box Theatre and flooring for the school’s Dance Studio.
J&C Joel begun the project by removing and disposing of all of the existing drapery and flooring within the spaces, then correctly identified the most suitable fabrics as a replacement.
The Black Box’s masking drapes were manufactured using J&C Joel’s IFR Coliseum Velvet Velour (VEL930/1) from their signature West End Collection. Coliseum Velvet Velour is the ideal fabric for stage masking drapes due to its thick, blackout properties which make it perfect for concealing backstage elements from the audience.
From this fabric, 7 individual drapes were produced, each sewn with 50% fullness. J&C Joel then manufactured the flooring for the Black Box Theatre (which measured 15m x 12m) and the Dance Studio (which measured 16m x 9m), using their black DFR Joelmat (JM008). Joelmat creates a versatile, hard-wearing floor that is soft underfoot and minimises noise within a space.
All of the drapes and flooring was manufactured in the J&C Joel Vietnam Office and delivered to the school in the time required.
