J&C Joel undertook a complete installation of perimeter drapes and tracking to improve the flexibility of the main hall at Jumeirah English Speaking School (JESS) in Dubai.
JESS school is one of the UAE’s premier English-speaking schools, delivering a British curriculum to over 2050 children. Its main hall serves as a multi-purpose space for activities, performances and events.
Self-lined marine Countess drapes run around the perimeter of the hall. Timber battens fixed to the walls support the drapes. The team tailored each drape to fit around doorways, air conditioning vents and other features. Upon the perimeter drapes over the hall’s glass doors the school’s logo was depicted in an intricate silver Stage Satin appliqué.
Matching self-lined velvet drapes allow staff to divide the hall as needed. These drapes hang from a bi-parting, U-shaped motorised E Rail. When closed, they form a full room partition. Alternatively, they can be opened partially to create a fabric proscenium for performances or retract them fully into the corners when not in use.
Walkalong 2Way tracks support drapes that provide an additional hall partition and conceal the glass doors and gym equipment.
Above, a sky blue Sharkstooth Gauze ‘ceiling’ spans the hall. It includes custom cut-outs for suspended lighting bars, speaker systems and the hall’s projector. Finally, J&C Joel installed a motorised projection screen roller banner at the performance end of the hall.
