J&C Joel are proud to have provided a selection of stage curtains for the European leg of Simply Red’s farewell world tour.
The band capped off a career spanning 26 years in which they have sold over 50 million albums with a final show in London’s O2 arena.
22 bespoke reefer curtains made from inherently flame retardant seer-suckered silver Polyester Trevira fabric (PT036) were produced for the tour by J&C Joel’s manufacturing team. Each of the curtains had a fullness of 100% with a width of 1.6 metres and a drop of between 16.65 metres and 7.2 metres.
J&C Joel’s contracts department produced curved aluminium hanging brackets designed specifically to reduce spinning and movement of the reefer curtains. Guide wires ran from the hanging bracket down the length of the curtains to increase stability.
Two unlined silver Polyester Trevira (PT015) curtains measuring 13 metres by 17 metres with a fullness of 50% were also manufactured with eyelets in the headers to facilitate a drop using a Kabuki system. The fabric was chosen specifically for the way it looked when backlit by the stage lights before dropping to reveal the stage at the start of the show.
J&C Joel have had the pleasure of supplying drapes and fabrics for a number of Simply Red tours throughout their career and would like to bid a fond farewell to one of British music’s most iconic and well loved bands.
