The Hallé, a world renowned symphony orchestra, was founded in 1857 by Sir Charles Hallé and gave its first concert in 1858. The Manchester based orchestra still performs after 155 years, as well as supporting numerous choirs and orchestras.

St Peter’s Church, built in 1859, stands in the centre of the Ancoats Conservation Area. The renovation of the Grade II listed church has allowed the 80 piece orchestra to now have their own rehearsal space.

Working alongside City Build Manchester Ltd, J&C Joel supplied and installed 2 Way walk along tracks to the internal perimeter of the room, measuring 25 metres by 19 metres.

J&C Joel manufactured 21 bespoke green Wool Serge curtains manufactured to various widths all with a 5.5 metre drop and lined with black Premier Wool Serge (WS090). All curtains were finished with 50% fullness headed with metal golf bag hooks (HOOK003) and a chain weighted bottom (GC001). Each curtain has the ability to be repositioned along the track to promote both acoustic and decorative properties.

The curtains also assist the multi-functional space that can be used for a whole range of activities, such as orchestra and choir performances, private functions, weddings (as the church is still consecrated) and various other events.
